Autumn Rain

Earth… The smell of it warms my soul. The deep smell of dirt, the tender veins on leaves, the soft patches of grass-leaving impressions on the knees.

These colours are my Earth, my soul, my fire… These colours are my inspiration-a breath of fresh air…

I close my eyes and listen to the wind blowing dark hues of purple and black, blue and aqua through the air… Wisps of fluffy dark clouds hover close, a blanket of warmth. Orange, red, yellow leaves, shake and shiver to their skinny branches…

'My sorrow, when she's here with me, thinks these dark days of autumn rain
are beautiful as day can be; she loves the bare, the withered tree;
she walks the sodden pasture lane.'

Diamonds are a girls best friend

There is nothing I love more-than getting hand written mail, or packages! Nothing disappointed tonight-when I came home to TWO lovely packages with beautiful things inside…

Our wedding bands came in, la la la. Did I say that there is nothing I love more than mail? Pfft… Diamonds! (just kidding…starving artist here, right?!) I also invested in a flash for my camera (check off number 3 on my 101).

la la la! Life is wonderful!

Snowball Effect

Early morning… A cool, wet, white… clings to the ground. Breath hanging in the air… This was the first snow.

Not much, I know… But all that matters is that it is white-cold, and comes in the form of flakes. Lovely, delicious, pure snow. The drive to work was beautiful-low valleys full of low hanging clouds, black cows move slowly-hot bursts of air bellowing from their wet muzzle. The road, slick with sleet…hidden sheets of ice await on bridges.

Easy does it, like a gnome on a snail… Who needs to rush in beautiful weather like this?

Sweet November

The clouds have moved in, bringing breaths of cold winter air. The last of the leaves fall, leaving the trees naked, silhouetted against the grey sky. It's like finding treasure when you stumble across great bursts of colours at this time of year…

With the grass dead – yellowing… The flowers wilted and brown. These little bits of colour bring life to the earth. A red breasted robin hops rapidly through mazes of twigs and branches…

Sweet November.

To live in fear of the Unknown…

Are you ever scared of what the future may bring? Does it ever worry you-to think of your future children, or grandchild's life? What quality, what existence will they have? Radical religions, war hungry leaders, blind followers…

Santa must slim down, and our borders must tighten up. Children play with toys full of lead-depending on what way you look at that-you'll get what I mean…

It just seems like we are falling, the world is crumbling beneath iron clad shoes. Volcanoes…tempers, erupt, fighting for their own place–leaving thousands stranded in their golden mess.

I'm so ashamed of this evolution of mankind, this breed of people… and I'm so terrified for what they bring to my world.

'The reason people find it so hard to be happy-is that they always

see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is,

and the future less resolved than it will be.'

-Marcel Pagnol

Thanksgiving

A day where RV's travel the map… families from all over the states come home. All dressed nicely, arriving in time for the Thanksgiving meal. Large families embrace, talk loud, and crowd around the family table…

We've always been a small family-small to me. But five was our magic number. It was just us. We have our traditions… We wake up to the smell of cooking, stay in pajamas, switch on the parade for background noise…and eat. Our little unit, comfortable. No button up shirts and belts. Trevor opens and slices the canned cranberry sauce, I make the devilled eggs. and well, I'm not really sure what Cody did…

This is my favourite time of the year-I look forward to Thanksgiving-its the kick off to the holidays, the winter… Cold rushed in just in time… This is the time to snuggle in and watch great movies on VCR. And of course-wonderful food.

And I think that it's about time for a nap…

Challenge

So many people make plans and never follow through… I'll admit it. I happen to be one of them as well… But then there are so many people who have dreams, and never follow. As I have always thought, the best way to accomplish your dream, is to set small goals and strive to do nothing but achieve them… To fulfill your life with a long journey of hard work, paid off by seeing that white mountain, by swimming in those rare coral reefs, or by walking the same foot paths your ancestors created… Having a story to tell.

Sometimes you just have to take the plunge and go…. To stop making plans and start living it. There is nothing as gratifying as accomplishing these little goals. These little steps, this one journey. So I challenge you-as I am challenging myself… I want you to write a list of 101 goals to accomplish in 1,001 days. Make this list and check in with it regularly…

It's all about who you want to become, how you want to expand and grow, and what you need to do to get there. I will start off with a few of mine and continue to build…

If you are unhappy in your job, quit… If you're looking for some new air, move. If you want a new look, cut it off. The new year is approaching-so instead of setting yourself up for resolutions that are dumped 14 days later… Start living your dreams.

The Welch Family

Sore legs, sore muscles, sore body. Who would have ever guessed that taking pictures would hurt this much? So I rolled out of bed this morning, and took my sore legs to another photo shoot.

A new location and a beautiful family–who has never had their photos taken together!

Girls Day Out

Today was such a beautiful day-full of wonderful golden light, and beautiful girls.  I spent the afternoon with a family of strong sisters, and their daughters. I look at the faces, the eyes, the hands of the mothers-and see so much strength in them. Their love connecting with their girls-willing them to grow into strong independent women. These mothers have secrets, they have stories… They have a bond that is unbreakable.

I can't even imagine what it is like to grow up in a family like this… A large family, close…Large holidays together-a mixture of personalities brought together by blood… They are beautiful. The resemblances are undeniable.

To the girls-Beth, Maddie, Tammy, Sarah, Amy & Allie… Thank you. Thank you for letting me spend time with your family. The love between you is amazing…and so obvious.

Maddie, Sarah, and Allie-I hope that you grow old like your mothers, gracefully, with beautiful lines of laughter and strength in your eyes. Stay strong and true to yourself…and always call  your mom.

Limestall/Harman Family Day!

Early  morning shoot with a good friend and her wonderful family. The girls got ready, spending time in the mirror with hair curlers and make-up. With all the finishing touches, I think that we managed to get some great family shots for the holidays!

When I was younger, I always wanted a little sister… I just thought that the bond between sisters was such a wonderful thing. They could be friends…
