It's Thursday, and I'm in Love

Sheila's house is full of trinkets and treasures. She's a collector, a hoarder, a never-throws-a-thing-away kinda gal. You'll find ration books and newspapers, cobwebs and clothes. She enjoys collecting magnets, tea pots, and coins-but one of her best collections that I found were the photographs…

Beautiful black and white portraits, the oldest dating back to the 1940's. In Ireland, a completely different time…  She's lived in Portumna since she was born, raised two doors down from the house she lives in now-and the one she lives in now? She moved into that when she married, 50 years ago. All 7 of her surviving babies grew up there, along with her first grandchild, Steven.

So while I was really looking for pictures of my man when he was a little boy…

(oh my god those cheeks! I know!!) I fell in love all over again with film. We sat together in the sun room, digging through piles and piles of family portraits.

My love Thursday-black and white photographs, family portraits, and the goodness of film…
